Canada’s automobile industry entered into a voluntary
agreement with the Government of Canada to
reduce the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from
Canada’s vehicle fleet by 5.3 megatonnes by the end
of 2010.
Automobiles only account for 2 percent of
Canada's greenhouse gas emissions.
Burning one cord of wood in a fireplace produces
more smog causing emissions than the entire
lifetime emissions produced from 10 new SUV’s.
Painting a room with one gallon (4.54 l) of interior
water-based paint produces more smog-causing
emissions than driving a new vehicle from Toronto
to Vancouver and back
